I’ve been cranking this so much over the last couple of days!
Folk Punk for Punk Folk!
Mutiny: Captain Bligh: Rum Rebellion
Somehow Mutiny are able to inject a lot more room for both actual folk music and raw punk rock into folk punk than most bands in the genre. Sea shanty and rowdy Irish ballad influenced folk by forest blockading pro-squatting miscreants. One of Australia’s best ever punk bands and some of the most fun people I’ve had the pleasure to hang out with.
Merry Day.
The Pogues and Kirsty McCol: Fairytale of New York: 1987
Drinkify can’t get anything right…
Oh and Adelaide peeps, Streams of Whiskey (ex-members of Mutiny, Mid Youth Crisis, Heads Kicked Off, PoS…) play at the Crowd of Anchors (Crowded Wankers) on Friday 25 and the Metro (can someone tell me where the Metro is?) Sunday 27 of this month.
Fear Like Us: Song of Rattling Keys: S/T: 2007

“Turkish Song Of The Damned” - The Pogues, from the album “If I Should Fall From Grace With God” (1988)
Shane MacGowan’s version of Nick Cave’s “Lucy” is great.
Mutiny: All That I’ve Got: Anyway You Can: 1994
I love this band and I’ve been feeling like this a lot recently. It seems that not long after getting paid all my money is gone. Only thing missing is the friends in the song :-/
Mutiny - All I’ve Got
Spent my last dollar yesterday and the next checks a week away
I guess I’ll just have to make due
With begging and borrowing and charity food
I said I guess I’ll just have to make due with begging and borrowing and charity food
I’ve got my friends and that’s all I’ve got
I know it’s not much
But to me it’s a lot
We’ve got each other and we’re ok
Together we’ll dance our blues away
Door kicked down
It was a police raid
Must’ve been the biggest mistake they made
They found nothing ‘cause I’ve got nothing
Except a mattress laying on the floor
Pile of clothes, stolen, not much more
I’ve got my friends and that’s all I’ve got
I know it’s not much
But to me it’s a lot
We’ve got each other and we’re ok
Together we’ll dance our blues away
Spent my last dollar yesterday and the next checks a week away
I guess I’ll just have to make due
With begging and borrowing and charity food
I’ve got my friends and that’s all I’ve got
I know it’s not much
But to me it a lot
We’ve got each other and we’re ok
Together we’ll dance our blues away
My check came today
Now I can wipe my debt away
Let’s go home and celebrate
Money in my pocket and it feels great
Oh no, I’ve done it again
Three days in and my checks all spent
Oh no, I’ve done it again
How Am I going to afford my rent?
I’ve got my friends and that’s all I’ve got
I know it’s not much
But to me it a lot
We’ve got each other and we’re ok
Together we’ll dance our blues away
Crooked Fiddle Band: The Rom Rebellion
Kimya Dawson: 12/26
I’ll let Kimya do my 9-11 commentary for me…
Warning video contains very disturbing photographs that should cause distress.
Mutiny: Brisbane Bandits: Co-op Brewery: 2006: Missing Link
Only Mutiny could write a song about drinking with another folk punk band (the Badnits previously known as Bezza and the Bandits).
Tim Barry - Avoiding Catatonic Surrender
The truth is I don’t know or care with who or where I fit in at all
But I keep on living simple, riding fast and living slow
I write standard boring songs with boring standard chords
Just like the best and the worst, verse chorus, verse chorus, bridge, repeat
And so on
Mutiny 20th Anniversary Show
Australia’s World’s greatest folk punk band having their 20th anniversary, I’m so keen.
